About Me:
I am the Executive Director of the Academic Advanced Distributed Learning Co-Lab in Madison, WI. I spent 8 years as a multimedia programmer at the Kelly Planetarium at Discovery Place in Charlotte, NC (unfortunately one of those IMAX combo planetariums that IMAX eventually ate).

I started moderating DOME-L while working at the planetarium and also started Planetarium.Net in the early days of the Web. I love this community and I am happy to be in a role where I can still provide a measure of support!

I am also an adjunct faculty member at Indiana University-Bloomington where I teach Instructional Technology online.

From Wired Magazine - as Mars Phoenix reaches the end...a contest!

R.I.P. @MarsPhoenix: The Twitter Epitaph Contest

"To mark this exciting, crowd-pleasing, Tweeting trip to the Martian north pole, we thought it'd be fun to mark the occasion with a Mars Phoenix Twitter-style epitaph contest. That means that these particular virtual headstones must be under 140 characters. Beyond that, it's up to you how you want to memorialize the mission."

Moving into Launch Mode

While still tweaking around the edges, we are now moving into launch mode for the site. I will post more about what this means in the future but we are already seeing exciting, explosive growth!

What you can do to continue to help:

INVITE
This is a social network. Invite others already in the network to become your friends! Invite others, who are not yest in the network, to join. One big difference between this site and Dome-L is that I would like it to include a broader audience. This means t… Continue

Testing, testing, 1,2,3

Just a quick word to say we are pushing the limits of Ning at the moment so expect some strange layouts, graphic issues, etc. We are also trying some different graphical elements and some are not going to work :)

It is fun to see it come together but expect the unexpected for the next few days!

Note that any content you upload should remain but where to find it might change.

Hey, Rovy:

We have interest in putting together a group that wants to share animations. Does the site have space to handle large files?

Rovy. I

I am trying to set up a group for Chronos users, but every time I try to set it up, I get an error message that says that the web address I am trying to set up cannot contain spaces or numbers. But I DON'T have any spaces or numbers in it.

What determines whether or not I appear on the main "Members" page?

Hi Rovy,

Thanks for letting me in. Will be interesting to see where this goes.

One bit of input: when I logged in, I had to choose between astronomy educator, retired, work in a planetarium, etc. There was no "vendor" option, so I signed in as an astronomy educator, which I still think of myself as being. But it might be useful, in the spirit of "full disclosure" to let us vendor folk identify ourselves for others who might read our input and think that we were someone other than vendors to the industry. It's not my intention to ever hide that. I'm proud of the work I do, and I hope other vendors will identify themselves as well.

Thanks,

Ken
