As I recall we got a list of specs/requirements for compatible workstation computer from Zeiss. We then took that list to a local computer dealer and had them put together one to satisfy those specs/requirements. Unfortunately we were less than pleased with what we got from our dealer, but have managed to make it work. Be sure you choose a knowledgeable dealer. We had to buy an extra license for powerdome for the workstation computer. When you are running a show in your dome, programming from the workstation computer at the same time may slow down the show. You will be pulling and saving files through the workstation computer to the NAS (data storage computer), which is also the computer that has the show files. I don't know any way around this. Nevertheless, I think it is important to have the workstation computer.
About a month ago we had a lot of rain, courtesy of Hurricane Ike. (I said, "take a hike, Ike," but he didn't listen) Some of that rain got through our roof onto our computer rack and damaged every computer . We are having Zeiss replace all 8 system computers. Thank god for insurance! No shows until then--should be up and running again by the first of next month.
