Ron, this looks really good. I can see you are always pushing blender to a new level. By the way, did you acquire a new starmap? The one you are using in Expanded View looks really nice, especially the Milky Way.

Terrific movie! Especially liked the model of Saturn and the disco car scene.

Thanks Ron, that's exactly what I needed

Finished Farm Hello all Blendheads. I have spent the past two months designing and building my own Blender Render farm. Although it does not boast hundreds of CPU's, it does effectively render blend files in a queue and spit them all out in one dir…

Adam, No worries I've been busy too. I've looked at Dr Queue but the fact you have to compile from the tar (whatever that is) made me shy away from using it. I think we could do it using the remote desktop and sending UNIX commands if I could figur…

Hello again Rod, Sorry it's taken me awhile to respond, class keeps one busy :) Up to this point I think I've exhausted my knowledge on LokiRender. If you could give me this Bus error, however, perhaps it would provide some food for thought. Are y…

Adam, Ok I tried installing the new version of Python but if I try launching blender from the Terminal it still compiles using Python 2.3.5 (I'm using a Mac system and everything is UNIX commands) I tried installing the latest version of blender (b…

Hi Rod, I'm going to take a stab at the problem, but I'm sure you've already reached this point yourself. The first thing I would check is to make sure that blender will run from the mono command line, aka, just typing in 'blender' and making sure…

ok I reinstalled the mono framework which seems to have worked. Now my problem is loki render wants to actually OPEN blender (which I don't understand since you can use the terminal to run blender in background) and it says it can't open blender. I…

Hi Rod, First off, what operating system are you using? If Windows XP/ Vista, which service pack are you running? Also, which version of Mono are you running? I'm using mono-2.4.2.2-gtksharp-2.12.9-win32-0, perhaps if you are using 2.4.2 upgrading…

Ok I have a slightly different problem. I have to use the Mono framework to launch the loki_render app. It works fine on all of my worker computers but when I try to run it on the controller Mono hangs and won't respond. I've tried re-installing the…

Woo!! Nice work, man! I look forward to seeing some animations!

Hi Ron, I have finally fixed everything and have a fully functional Blender LokiRender Farm. The problem was with the actual networking. Instead of creating a Network Drive and mapping it to all of the the nodes, I was sharing a folder. This create…

The only time I've gotten that message is when I get the path or filename wrong. But it's an incorrect message for me. Maybe it's incorrect for you for another incorrect reason... :) Is your system 100% linux, or do you have mixed os (including you…

About Me:
My name is Adam. I love to create things. When I get an idea, I love to work on it until it's completed. I can spend days (literally), working on a project until it is finished; I simply love it. One of my favorite things to do is recreate something that costs millions of dollars with materials in my own garage. It may not be as pretty, but it is just as functional. Just like a diy planetarium.
