First off, let me introduce myself. My name is Kurt Kuechenberg and I am the Planetarium manager at the Sauners Planetarium at MOSI in Tampa, Florida. I am just now starting the job and am learning all the ins and outs of the Chronos system.
I am currently reading through the section on Automation Programming and was wondering if anyone has a quick walk through or a step by step that shows how this is accomplished. A simple program would be great to start with. The manual is OK, but, any help would be greatly appeciated!
Welcome to the users group. I work for Ash Enterprises. John Hare and I installed your Chronos system. I have a lot of programs back home that I can send you, though I don't return until June 21st.
John Hare and I are both located in Bradenton, FL. If you need any assistance with the Chronos, please contact either one of us. Our information is located on our website at www.ash-enterprises.com
Thanks Jason! Sorry about the slow reply, as you can imagine I've been a bit busy with the new job, but I will be getting back with you soon, thanks again.
SInce we have about 10 shows programmed on our Chronos here in Schenectady, I can tell you right from the start, that the Chronos manual leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to programming the machine. But in my opinion, its still the best planetarium instrument around. There are things that the manual tells you to do, that don't actually work when you do it. My assistant Planetarium Manager Megan, has figured out for the most part, how to get the Chronos to do what we want it to do, with almost no help from the manual. She has pretty much taught herself how to program, with the fantastic help from Jason at Ash Enterprises. You really need to sit down and have time to "play" with the machine. The programming has no margin for error, and a colin, instead of a semi-colin, or a space where there should not be one, will yield very different results from what you want. But again, its a fantastic machine !!!!
