Teaching People to Dream

Hi Guys!
We are a smallish (40ft dome) planetarium in a science/nature museum with DS2 software. We are intensely reviewing new shows at the moment, and I wanted to put out a general question:
What full-dome shows have worked the best for general audiences?
Is your planetarium showing "One World, One Sky"...how has the reaction been?

Thanks for your input...

You say you have DS2. "One World, One Sky" is fulldome and you asked about that.
Are you planning to go fulldome? And, does this mean you are looking for an opening show or one
or two shows to open with? That show would give you something for very young audiences.
It would work for families with small children. But that doesn't give you anything for the older audiences.

You can't beat "Black Holes" as a topic. I like the Clark show, but the Denver one also has it's
fans. If you just want it for a good general draw and to show off the system, its a winning
topic.

We are fulldome...DigitalSky2, I should have been more specific. Thanks for the info...I like black holes as a topic also. The Melbourne Planetarium heavy-lifting version is great, but may be a little too much for a general audience...treading that fine line between education and entertainment is certainly a challenge.

Hi Melissa,
At RVCC Planetarium here in NJ (also running DS2, 40 ft dome), the general public enjoyed "The Amazing Telescope" with a sky tour included last year. Currently we're running a sky show with "Earth, Moon and Sun" as a daytime "family" show on Saturdays and a plain 35-40 min sky show in the evening. Typically we get families with kids during the day and more adults, teens and college students in the evening. "Earth, Moon and Sun" is getting giggles and "a ha's" in the right places, so I think it's going over fairly well. I actually run the shows and get a 'vibe' of the audience.
As far as "One World, One Sky", we are planning on running that at the Newark Museum's Dreyfuss Planetarium (I'm on staff there, too!) in the spring after our full dome renovation project. It looks to be an OK show for the real little ones that we usually get there.
